February 21st-28th - Training/Racing - NH & MA - 33.2

When I first started this blog, I never could have guessed how hard it is to keep it up-to-date! With that being said, let me try to catch you up on the end of February. Good thing I have my GPS data to help me remember everything!

February 21st - Training - Manchester, NH - 6.5
Went for a light easy run today to get the legs moving again after a little DECA vacation. I found a new route that does not have much traffic for more than half of it. It was great to be able to run in the middle of the road in Manchester without cars honking. All-in-all, a great run.

February 22nd - Training - Dracut, MA - 10
Jess and I decided that Tuesdays were now going to be our day where we ran the hills of Dracut. We modified the Speed Dating Course to make it only 10 miles but man is it a tough 10 miler. Jess and I met at our normal location and took off at about 1 PM. We put in a great run. It was the fastest loop we have done together which made both of us happy!

February 23rd & 24th - Rest - 0

February 25th - Training - Manchester, NH - 3.1
Put in a nice and easy Derryfield Country Club 5K to get the legs loose for tomorrow final Fudgcicle 5K which is a two-some race. I am running it with a partner where we are sure to win our division. Looks to be an exciting race.

February 26th - Fudgcicle 5K - Tewksbury, MA - 3.1
This was the day, the day where my partner and I win our first Fudgcicle two-some race together. My partner, my running mother, the one and only Jess Costa. Together, we competed as team "What Could Have Been".  Who would have known we would be so dominant in our division, the Mother / Son division.

Come 8 AM, the runners took their mark at the starting line. Glenn did his normal greeting and then released the runners into the Wild World of Tewksbury by saying the G-O word. I wanted to ensure a victory for our team so I decided to push it for the first mile. I was in the lead pack for the entire first 1/2 mile where I decided to pull back a little knowing I would hit the mile 1 marker at about 5:40 at this pace.

I ended up hitting mile 1 at 6:30 which was still a hair too fast. Mile 2 came at 13:28 (6:59). This was perfect! I wanted to run a  7 minute mile average for the whole race so I still have some banked time. Mile 3 came at 20:45 (7:18) at which point I pushed hard for a finish in 21:33.

Together, Jess and I secured our first divisional win with a combined time of 51:18. Pure DOMINANCE!

February 27th - Dreadmill - Manchester, NH - 4
Damn you Mother Nature! Today was supposed to be another Sunday long run with Jess, Linda, Karen, and Dave T. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had to bless us with more snow and when I attempted to leave the house to make it down to Karen's house in Massachusetts, I soon realized that I was not going anywhere. The snow plows left 3.5 foot snowbanks at both ends of my street meaning I was going NOWHERE (think Boondock Saints)!

This left me with no other choice but to put in a 4 mile Dreadmill run. Suffered through it but got it done.

February 28th - Training - Lowell, MA - 6.5
It was once again that time of the month . . . No, not that time! Get your mind out of the gutter!

It was the time for the Greater Lowell Road Runner Monthly Meeting. Because of the meeting, I decided that I would go out for a run in Lowell before the meeting. Nothing special. I made it to Lowell at about 6 PM. I put the run in, made it back to Hookslide Kelly's, changed, ate one heck of a grilled chicken club, and then enjoyed the company of the many GLRRs who were in attendance at the meeting.

It was another great meeting. To make it even better, we had cake! Who doesn't love cake? Why cake you may ask, well, we wanted to celebrate Karen's 50th birthday! She was so surprised. It was great.

Thats about it. Hopefully I will have more time to stay on top of this blog in the month of March. A lot of good races coming up and I am sure you are going to want to hear about them!
