January 4th - Recovery - Manchester, NH - 3.25

My legs may have felt great last night running but this morning, they are singing to a whole different tune. I woke up this morning to a phone call from Memorial asking me if I was able to come in to substitute teach. This is a usually a normal occurrence except that today, I taking the day off to catch up on the sleep I have been lacking and had zero intentions of working. Of course, I answered the phone call (Mistake #1) to hear Ms. Johnson ("J") on the line.

Now, I was at Memorial the day prior for Ms. J as she was feeling ill and this morning when she made it back, she soon realized she was not going to be able to make it the entire day and asked me if I would be able to make it in today to sub for her again. If it were anyone else, my answer would probably been an easy "No I can't, I am busy today. Sorry." but it's Ms. J so I jumped out of bed, got dressed, did my hair, and ran out the door (Mistake #2).

Well, thats what I thought I was doing. In all actuality, I rolled over, stuck my legs over the side of the bed and attempted to bend my legs over the side to stand up. This is when I realized I probably should have stuck to my 8 miles originally planned. I was able to stand up at about the pace my grandfather does when he gets out of any chair.

At this point, I knew it was going to be a long day.

I made it through the school day and then attended my first graduate level class for the second semester. After class got out at about 9:15 PM, I came home and decided to do an easy recovery run to get my legs loose again before going to bed.

I put in the 3.25 easy miles, came home, showered, and went to bed. Tomorrow we will see how I feel and add more mileage to the year's total.

(Motivation at it's finest . . . Maybe the magical powers can make me faster!)
