When I was getting ready for this run, I made sure that I had at least a wind breaking layer on as I knew it would be a bit chilly on this late afternoon run. I did not however mentally prepare myself for winds that were really gusting.
If I did not know better, I would have sworn I was running out on the seacoast. That is the only other place around here that I have run where I have faced such fierce winds. But it wasn't the seacoast, it was home in Manchester, on one of my many normal running routes.
With these fierce winds, it made my simple 5K into a challenging 5K as I worked hard to avoid being pushed (blown) into traffic and being forced to play real-life "Frogger"!
Not my best run but man did I feel the extra effort that I had to put into this run!
(Congratulations, you reached level 2!)
