February 10th - Training - Manchester, NH - 9

Once again, after a long day training the students I had in class today, I decided to go for a long run after school. I had some spare time today during my prep period so I logged onto my running ahead account and just fooled around making some possible courses to run.

After about 20 minutes of designing, redesigning, tweaking, editing, correcting, and finalizing, I had come across a simple 9 mile loop that would take me from my house in Manchester to Hooksett and back in one big loop. I decided that this was going to be my course for the day and see how it goes . . .

I got home about 3 o'clock and did not waste any time as I wanted to get in a run for once during the week that was during the daylight. Within 15 minutes I was on my way. I started to head down Candia Road towards the Massabesic Traffic Circle. Once I reached the circle I continued toward Wellington Road except instead of running Heartache Hill, I continued on Rt. 28 into Hooksett. I stayed on this road until I found Smyth Rd which could bring me to the very familiar North Mammoth/Mammoth Rd.

My run was going great until this part. I had figured by this time of the week (due to the beautiful weather),  I would be able to run down the sidewalks. . .  I was wrong (hate when that happens)!  I was forced to run in the road which normally is not an issue, however due to the timing, traffic was very bad and I am sure they did not appreciate a short man running at them.

It was also at this point that I was almost hit by a car. Not just any car, but one of my student's car! I am not sure if she meant to almost hit me or the fact that she just saw her teacher running towards her in compression pants (HIGHLY FASHIONABLE) and the shock caused her to swerve. . . We may never know (until tomorrow in class).

After that near death experience, I was just focusing on making it home and just relaxing the night away. Once home, took a nice hot shower, stretched, changed, and declared my spot on the couch for the rest of the night. I do not think I moved until I went to bed. It was AWESOME! :)

(I need to give this bumper sticker to my student . . .)
