This time however, it was Linda, Jess, Fil, and I who decided to do the speed dating course. It turned out
to be a beautiful day with a slight breeze. At 30 degrees, it felt like a heat wave compared to yesterday's 4 degree 5K.
We took off at about 10:30 AM and all I could think about is that there is nothing like getting a second chance to see Heather, Tina, Ms. Parker, Ms. Jones, Helen, Betty Anne, and Bonnie. Only difference today was that I got to meet two new girls, Ms. Bridge and Avis.
(The best way to prepare for Derry . . .)
Ms. Bridge was pleasant. She just happens to be more popular than all of the rest of the girls combined and I felt very crowed when I was with her. Not much room to move around. Reminds me of the few times I went to the clubs around my undergrad college in Providence, RI. Nice area but too popular to really enjoy it because of the number of people.
Avis was a short girl but did she ever have a mean streak. I am pretty sure that Avis and Helen are sisters even though they never spoke of one another. Avis was at least nice enough to know when our conversations were coming to an end and did not try to drag anything on than it needed to be. She happened to be right before Helen and we can all recall Helen's reputation.
We finished our "speed dating" session and I had to run back home in order to get ready to referee what ended up being the most painful refereeing experience ever! Because of the long run and not eating or hydrating properly after, my body did not end up liking me too much when I decided that 7 hours of refereeing indoor playoffs was a good idea.
Ah, we live and learn. . .
I did break 100 miles for the year already though! 16 days, 100 miles, and one tired kid! This week will be an easier week as Sunday I will be running Derry's Boston Prep 16 Miler. Nothing like running 16 miles of rolling hills in Derry, NH!
